Protecting your bank accounts from fraud

17 July 2008

If you're viewing your bank accounts online, you may be putting yourself at risk of fraud. It is important to do everything you can to protect your bank accounts from fraud as it can sometimes be difficult to recover the money you have had stolen.

While your bank does everything in its power to protect your bank accounts, you need to take action as well for your own online security.

Some things to remember:

  • Never give anyone your PIN.
  • Change the passwords on your bank accounts on a regular basis.
  • Never respond to emails claiming to be from your bank. Do not click on any links in these emails. Report the email to your bank as it may be a phishing scam.
  • Protect your computer from viruses, Trojans and other spyware with reputable software.

By taking precautions, you will reduce your chances of your bank accounts being subject to fraud.

Compare bank accounts now to find the right bank account to suit your needs and remember to protect it.
